La famille de SIMONETTA d'Italie fait partie de ces maisons princières et magnifiques enregistrées dans le somptueux ouvrage du marquis Litta. Elle a occupé une position distinguée en Calabre, ainsi que dans d'autres parties de l'Italie, et a donné de nombreux membres éminents à la fois à l'Église et à l'État.
L'établissement du nom en France est dû à l'attachement de Guiot de SIMONNET à son auguste maîtresse, Valentine Visconti, duchesse de Milan, plus tard épouse du duc Louis d'Orléans, frère du roi de France Charles VI.
Le chevalier de SIMONNET fut premier écuyer de ce personnage royal et s'établit en France en 1389.
Certains de ses descendants, de la province de Champagne, prouvèrent leur parenté avec le sang royal, et atteste de leur droit aux privilèges et immunités de leur rang.
Un certain Peter SIMONET, cadet d'une branche bretonne descendante de la célèbre famille de SIMONETTA d'Italie, émigra à Jersey à la suite de la Révocation de l'Edit de Nantes et et y fut inhumé, en 1757.

Etymologie :
Les patronymes SIMONET, SIMONNET, SIMONETTA etc. dérivent du nom de baptême d'origine biblique SIMON de l'hebreu : "Shim'on" (Dieu a entendu).

La famiglia di SIMONETTA d'Italia è una di quelle casate principesche e magnifiche ricordate nella sontuosa opera del Marchese Litta. Ebbe in Calabria, come in altre parti d'Italia, un posto illustre e diede molti illustri membri sia alla Chiesa che allo Stato.
L'affermazione del nome in Francia è dovuta all'attaccamento di Guiot de SIMONNET alla sua augusta amante, Valentino Visconti, duchessa di Milano, poi moglie del duca Luigi d'Orléans, fratello del re Carlo VI di Francia.
Il Cavaliere di SIMONNET fu il primo scudiero di questo personaggio reale e si stabilì in Francia nel 1389.
Alcuni dei suoi discendenti, della provincia di Champagne, provarono la loro parentela con sangue reale, e attestarono il loro diritto ai privilegi e alle immunità del loro rango.
Un certo Peter SIMONET più giovane di un ramo bretone discendente dalla famosa famiglia dei SIMONETTA d'Italia, emigrò a Jersey in seguito alla revoca dell'editto di Nantes e vi fu sepolto nel 1757.

The SIMONETTA family of Italy is one of those princely and magnificent houses recorded in the sumptuous work of the Marquis Litta. She held a distinguished position in Calabria, as well as in other parts of Italy, and gave many distinguished members both to Church and State.
The establishment of the name in France is due to Guiot de SIMONNET's attachment to his august mistress, Valentine Visconti, Duchess of Milan, later wife of Duke Louis of Orléans, brother of King Charles VI of France.
The Chevalier de SIMONNET was the first squire of this royal personage and settled in France in 1389.
Some of his descendants, from the province of Champagne, proved their kinship with royal blood, and attested to their right to the privileges and immunities of their rank.
A certain Peter SIMONET, younger of a Breton branch descending from the famous family of SIMONETTA of Italy, emigrated to Jersey following the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes and was buried there in 1757.
