Note historique:
- Famille fort ancienne de Normandie, ainsi dans une charte, écrite en latin , et existant dans les archives de Saint-Lô ( Manche ), revêtue d'un sceau portant cette légende S' ROBERTI FERRE, dont le champ est occupé par un écusson portant " 3 fers à cheval posés 2 et 1. "
Il y est dit que Robert FERRE, ARMIGER (homme d'armes) fait don, en 1265 , de terrains qu'il possédait à Torchamp, commune du canton de Passais.
On trouve dans d'autres documents qu'un membre de cette famille, engagé dans la guerre des Albigeois, fonda, en Italie, une branche connue sous le nom de FERRÉ, FERRO ou FERRI, qui, par une corruption fréquente à cette époque, transforma ses " trois fers à cheval " en " trois annelets d'or posés 2 et 1 ", d'un spécimen au reste tout pareil.
- Benoist de Ferré, en 1442, Réné, roi de Naples, chassé de ses Etats par Alphonse, roi d'Aragon, lequel vint s'établir dans son comté de Provence. Un de ses descendants accompagne Marguerite, petite fille dudit Réné, mariée en 1488 à Réné de France, duc d'Alençon, et revient ainsi au berceau de sa famille.
La famille FERRÉ possédait, en 1586 , entr'autres seigneuries, celles de Saint-Georges et de Rouellé, près Domfront. C'est à cette époque aussi qu'elle s'allia, par des mariages, avec les Achards et les Couppel de Saint-Laurent, anciens gouverneurs du château de Domfront.
- L'une des branches de cette famille , pour se distinguer des autres, avait donné à des propriétés, dans le Passais, son nom italien, qu'elle ajouta au nom primitif, et, depuis lors cette branche s'appela FERRÉ DES FERRIS. (Ouv. de M. de Saint-Jean, an 1717.) On voit dans l'église de Passais une pierre sépulcrale au nom de FERRÉ, escuyer, de 1556.

Historical note:
- Very old family of Normandy, thus in a charter, written in Latin, and existing in the archives of Saint-Lô (Manche), covered with a seal bearing this legend S' ROBERTI FERRE, whose field is occupied by an escutcheon bearing "3 horseshoes posed 2 and 1."
It is said there that Robert FERRE, ARMIGER (man-at-arms) donated, in 1265, land he owned in Torchamp, a commune in the canton of Passais.
We find in other documents that a member of this family, engaged in the Albigensian war, founded, in Italy, a branch known under the name of FERRÉ, FERRO or FERRI, which, by a frequent corruption at that time, transformed his "three horseshoes" into "three rings of gold placed 2 and 1", from a specimen that was otherwise identical.
- Benoist de Ferré, in 1442, Réné, king of Naples, driven out of his States by Alphonse, king of Aragon, who came to settle in his county of Provence. One of his descendants accompanies Marguerite, granddaughter of the said Réné, married in 1488 to Réné of France, Duke of Alençon, and thus returns to the cradle of his family.
The FERRÉ family owned, in 1586, among other seigneuries, those of Saint-Georges and Rouellé, near Domfront. It was also at this time that she formed an alliance, through marriage, with the Achards and the Couppels of Saint-Laurent, former governors of the Château de Domfront.
- One of the branches of this family, to distinguish itself from the others, had given to properties, in Passais, its Italian name, which it added to the primitive name, and, since then this branch was called FERRÉ DES FERRIS . (Ouv. de M. de Saint-Jean, year 1717.) One sees in the church of Passais a sepulchral stone in the name of FERRÉ, squire, of 1556.

- Antichissima famiglia di Normandia, quindi in uno statuto, scritto in latino, ed esistente negli archivi di Saint-Lô (Manche), coperta da un sigillo recante questa legenda S' ROBERTI FERRE, il cui campo è occupato da uno stemma recante " 3 ferri di cavallo posti 2 e 1".
Si narra che Robert FERRE, ARMIGER (uomo d'arme) donò, nel 1265, un terreno di sua proprietà a Torchamp, comune del canton Passais.
Troviamo in altri documenti che un membro di questa famiglia, impegnata nella guerra albigese, fondò, in Italia, un ramo noto con il nome di FERRÉ, FERRO o FERRI, che, con una frequente corruzione all'epoca, trasformò i suoi "tre ferri di cavallo" in "tre anelli d'oro posti 2 e 1", da un esemplare altrimenti identico.
- Benoist de Ferré, nel 1442, René, re di Napoli, cacciato dai suoi Stati da Alfonso, re d'Aragona, che venne a stabilirsi nella sua contea di Provenza. Un suo discendente accompagna Marguerite, nipote del detto René, sposata nel 1488 con René di Francia, duca d'Alençon, e torna così alla culla della sua famiglia.
La famiglia FERRÉ possedeva, nel 1586, tra le altre signorie, quelle di Saint-Georges e Rouellé, vicino a Domfront. Fu anche in questo periodo che strinse un'alleanza, attraverso il matrimonio, con gli Achard e i Couppels di Saint-Laurent, ex governatori del castello di Domfront.
- Uno dei rami di questa famiglia, per distinguersi dagli altri, aveva dato a proprietà, in Passais, il suo nome italiano, che aggiunse al nome primitivo, e, da allora questo ramo fu chiamato FERRÉ DES FERRIS. (Ouv. de M. de Saint-Jean, anno 1717.) Si vede nella chiesa di Passais una pietra sepolcrale a nome di FERRÉ, scudiero, del 1556.
