Note:
La famille Du Villard est originaire d’Archamps, près St-Julien-en— Genevois, à laquelle appartient Jacques « De Villario, de Herchant », marchand, reçu B.G. le 4 avril 1460. Jean, 1532-1610, fut du CC auditeur 1569, conseiller 1582, syndic 1587, 1591, 1595, 1599, 1604, 1608 ; ingénieur, il dressa une carte du lac de Genève et commanda l’infanterie plusieurs fois ; avec ses frères Pierre, 1535—1576, Gabriel, et André, du CC 1577, il fut anobli par l’empereur Ferdinand, le 19 janvier 1563, pour faits de guerre à son service. La famille s’est éteinte dans la seconde moitié du XVIIe s.

Note:
The Du Villard family originated from Archamps, near St-Julien-en-Genevois, to which belonged Jacques "De Villario, de Herchant", merchant, received B.G. on April 4, 1460. Jean, 1532-1610, was CC auditor 1569, councilor 1582, trustee 1587, 1591, 1595, 1599, 1604, 1608; engineer, he drew a map of Lake Geneva and commanded the infantry several times; with his brothers Pierre, 1535—1576, Gabriel, and André, CC 1577, he was knighted by the Emperor Ferdinand on January 19, 1563, for acts of war in his service. The family died out in the second half of the 17th century.
