Note historique:
Edmund Sexton Pery, 1er vicomte Pery (8 avril 1719 - 24 février 1806) est un homme politique anglo-irlandais qui est président de la Chambre des communes irlandaise entre 1771 et 1785.
Il est né à Limerick, dans l’une des familles les plus influentes de la ville sur le plan politique, fils aîné du révérend Stackpole Pery et Jane Twigge.
Avocat il devient membre de la Chambre des communes irlandaise pour la circonscription de Wicklow Borough en 1751.
Lors de la dissolution de la chambre à la suite du décès de George II, il est élu pour la circonscription de Limerick City et siège de 1761 à 1785, devenant président de la Chambre en 1771.
En 1783, il se présente également pour Dungannon, mais choisit de siéger pour Limerick City.
Considéré comme l'un des hommes politiques les plus puissants d'Irlande à son époque, il dirige une faction comprenant son neveu, le futur comte de Limerick, et ses parents par alliance, les Hartstonges.
Après sa démission, il a été nommé vicomte Pery, de Newtown Pery, près de la ville de Limerick dans la pairie d’Irlande, lui donnant le droit de siéger à la Chambre des lords irlandaise. Comme il n'a pas d'héritier masculin, son titre est éteint à sa mort. (Wikipédia).

Edmund Sexton Pery, 1st Viscount Pery (8 April 1719 – 24 February 1806) was an Anglo-Irish politician who served as Speaker of the Irish House of Commons between 1771 and 1785.
He was born in Limerick, into one of the city's most politically influential families, the eldest son of Reverend Stackpole Pery and Jane Twigge.
A lawyer, he became a member of the Irish House of Commons for the constituency of Wicklow Borough in 1751.
When the House was dissolved following the death of George II, he was elected for the constituency of Limerick City and sat from 1761 to 1785, becoming Speaker of the House in 1771.
In 1783 he also stood for Dungannon, but chose to sit for Limerick City.
Considered one of Ireland's most powerful politicians of his time, he led a faction comprising his nephew, the future Earl of Limerick, and his in-laws, the Hartstonges.
After his resignation he was appointed Viscount Pery, of Newtown Pery, near the city of Limerick in the Peerage of Ireland, giving him the right to sit in the Irish House of Lords. As he has no male heir, his title is extinguished upon his death. (wikipedia).
