Richard de Bienfaite (avant 1035 – 1090), dit aussi de Tonbridge ou de Clare ou encore Richard Fitz Gilbert, seigneur de Bienfaite et d'Orbec, puis lord de Clare et de Tonbridge, justicier d'Angleterre, fut un important baron anglo-normand, probable compagnon de Guillaume le Conquérant dont il était l'un des conseillers.
Il est le primo-géniteur de l'importante famille baronniale anglaise, galloise et irlandaise de Clare dont les descendants furent comtes d'Hertford, de Pembroke et de Gloucester.
Richard reçoit Bienfaite et d'Orbec (Calvados) de Baudouin V, comte de Flandre.
Richard de Bienfaite fut le fondateur d'une famille baronniale très puissante d'Angleterre, dont les descendants furent comtes d'Hertford, de Pembroke et de Gloucester.

Richard de Bienfaite (before 1035 – 1090), also known as de Tonbridge or de Clare or even Richard Fitz Gilbert, lord of Bienfaite and Orbec, then lord de Clare and de Tonbridge, justice of England, was an important Anglo- Norman, probable companion of William the Conqueror, of whom he was one of the advisers.
He is the primogenitor of the important English, Welsh and Irish baronial family of Clare whose descendants were Earls of Hertford, Pembroke and Gloucester.
Richard receives Bienfaite and Orbec (Calvados) from Baudouin V, Count of Flanders.
