Antoine Grisé dit Villefrance est arrivé en Nouvelle-France vers 1720 en tant que caporal dans les Companies of Marines de Jacques Hugues de Péan.
Il s'agirait, sans doute, des Le Gris de La Villefranche ou La Haute-Villefranche originaire de Chailland, Saint-Germain-le-Guillaume dans la Mayenne et qui se trouvait alors dans la région du Bas-Maine (Ancien comté du Maine)..
